CHOIR CONCERT AT BORDERS BOOKSTORE

Parents, Families, and Faculty:  Thank you so much for attending our Bishop McVinney School Choir’s Christmas concert at Border’s Bookstore in Garden City, Cranston.  The choir’s heavenly voices filled the bookstore with strains of “Angels We Have Heard on High” and many other Christmas hymns and songs.  We not only give thanks to our wonderful students for sharing their time and talents with us, but we are also grateful to our choir director, Mrs. Debbie Pascale, for all her hard work and dedication.

ADVENT AND CHRISTMAS CELEBRATION:

On Wednesday, December 17, our school community ( pre-k – grade 8 ) will take part in a special celebration of our Lord’s birth.  The students will celebrate both Advent and Christmas through word and song.  Christmas carols sung by our school choir, faculty, and student body will emphasize the religious significance of Jesus’ birthday.  Please join us on Wednesday, December 17, at St. Michael’s Church as we come together during this very holy season.  Our celebration will begin at 9 am; all students will sit in designated rows in the two main center pews.  Parents and friends are to fill the side pew areas.  Please make every attempt to join us on this day.

MANY THANKS TO ALL OUR ANGELS:

During this season of giving, our school community gives thanks to all our angels who support our school and enrich the lives of our youngsters through their service and acts of kindness.  Our teachers, staff members, and aides are all extremely capable and dedicated individuals who ensure that our students receive a quality Catholic education.  We are also indebted to the services of our 2nd grade volunteer, Ms. Phyliss Araujo, for her tireless efforts on behalf of our youngsters.  We are very fortunate to have the services of Mrs. Barbara Hayes from Rhode Island Youth & Guidance who teaches confliction resolution classes to our 4th graders.  Thank you to our wonderful school nurse, Mrs. Nora Thurber, and our hard-working lunch ladies from Sodexo Food Services, Miss Agartha and Miss Virginia.  We are also so grateful for the Christian service performed by LaSalle seniors, tutors from Providence College and Johnson & Wales, and our resource teacher, Ms. Sharon Simpson.  Thank you so much to the terrific team at St. Michael’s parish who has been so supportive of our efforts to develop our spiritual lives at Bishop McVinney Regional School.  The pastor and assistant pastor of St. Michael’s, Father Ferland and Father Craddock, have embraced our school and opened their doors to us.  We are also very grateful to Father Garcia, Father Jacques, Sister Anne, and Sister Joyce for all support.

Next week some very special angels shall bestow their blessings upon our school.  Sarah Tracy and the Prout High School National Honor Society students will visit our 2nd graders on December 16 for a special Christmas breakfast.  On December 17 Brother Stephen Casey and the wonderful folks at Hendricken High School have invited our after school daycare students to Hendricken for a special Christmas party.  Father Codega and the generous parishioners of Christ the King parish in West Warwick have opened their hearts to us and sponsored a Giving Tree for our youngsters at Bishop McVinney School.  On Friday, December 19, Gregg’s Restaurant have partnered with Santa, himself, and his team of elves to visit our boys and girls with Christmas gifts.  We are so blessed to have so many wonderful friends and supporters of Bishop McVinney Regional School.  We wish you all the very best during this holy holiday season and we will remember you in our daily prayers.

God bless you and a very Merry Christmas to all!
